SUV driver Leo Gonzales, 47, told investigators he had just parked after dropping off a passenger at NAIA Terminal 1 when he panicked as another vehicle suddenly crossed.

He intended to hit the brake but mistakenly stepped on the accelerator, causing the SUV to surge forward, crash through the railing, and slam into the terminal walkway.

According to DOTr Sec. Vince Dizon, 2 people, including a 5-year-old girl, were killed, and three others were injured.

As the investigation continues, San Miguel Corporation will shoulder all expenses for the victims’ families.

– The incident took the lives of two individuals, including a 5-year-old girl who went to the terminal to see her OFW father off.

According to a report from Bilyonaryo News Channel, 47-year-old Leo Gonzales said he had just parked the vehicle after dropping off a passenger when the tragic incident occurred. 

Gonzales claimed that he panicked when another vehicle allegedly crossed in front of him. In his panic, he mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the SUV to lurch forward suddenly. 

The vehicle then rammed through the railing and slammed into the walkway of the terminal.
