CCTV footage from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 captured the chilling moments before a black SUV crashed into the departure area on Sunday morning, killing two people, including a 5-year-old child.
The video shows the Ford Everest initially parked in a slot directly in front of the terminal.
Moments later, the vehicle suddenly surged forward at high speed, crashing through the outer railing and into the pedestrian walkway near the terminal entrance.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, who reviewed the CCTV footage, said the incident appears to be “unintentional.”
“’Yung driver ay may inihatid na pasahero. Right now, initially, mukhang \[hindi] pumunta ‘yung driver para managasa. Hindi intentional,” Dizon stated.

The crash claimed the lives of an adult male and a 5-year-old child who had gone to the airport to send off their father, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
“Mayroong dalawang namatay kasama na ‘yung batang-batang five-year-old daughter ng OFW,” Dizon confirmed to Super Radyo dzBB. A heartbreaking video taken by journalist Raoul Esperas and shared by K5 News FM showed the grieving father, assisted by police and security personnel, crying out in anguish at the scene. The Philippine Red Cross responded with five ambulances and 18 volunteers. Three other individuals were injured and taken to San Juan de Dios Hospital. “The driver of the Ford Everest is in custody right now,” Dizon added.
